From Beijing, China, violinist Dongfang Ouyang began violin studies at the age of 4, and at age 10 studied at the Lysenko Music School in Kiev, Ukraine. In 2004 he enrolled in the Central Music School in Moscow and in 2009 moved to the United States to work with Weigang Li and Shmuel Ashkenasi at Bard College in New York. From there Dongfang moved to Los Angeles and graduated from the University of Southern California where he was a student of Glenn Dicterow. He appeared as a soloist with the American Symphony, premiering the Violin Concerto by Erkki Melartin. Dongfang performs on a violin made in 1850 by Georges Chanot, on loan to him from the Maestro Foundation.
