After eight seasons of performances we are announcing that Pittance Chamber Music is ceasing production this fall.  We are ending on a high note - our small series has remained successful and greatly enjoyed by audiences and performers alike.  It has been a great honor to serve the public with live concerts and online performances the past several years, and we thank our donors, artists, volunteers and loyal audience members for their support, dedication and enthusiasm.  From everyone at Pittance, we extend to you our greatest appreciation and warmest best wishes. If you happen to be attending LA Opera performances, please wander down to the orchestra pit and say hello - we would love to see you!

Pittance Chamber Music was created in 2013 by Artistic Director Lisa Sutton, Assistant Concertmaster of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra. The original vision of Pittance was to showcase the extraordinary musicians who perform in the opera pit, moving them from the pit to the stage to perform in small ensembles (hence the name Pittance). Over time the ranks of Pittance were expanded to include vocalists from the LA Opera Chorus and Young Artists Program.  Presenting these performers in smaller groups and smaller venues helped to personalize the medium of opera, giving audiences a more intimate view of the resident artists who are the heart and soul of the opera company.
