From Raleigh, North Carolina, soprano Summer Hassan was the 2013 winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in North Carolina. She is currently a member of LA Opera’s residency program, the Domingo Colburn Stein Young Artists. Summer’s Los Angeles Opera debut was the role of Second Lady in the 2015 production of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneus. She also appeared later that season in Corigliano’s Ghosts of Versailles as well as Hercules vs Vampires. Included among her many roles are Mother in Hansel and Gretel, Betty in Threepenny Opera, Dorabella in Cosi Fan Tutte and Mimi in La Boheme. Summer also appeared as Second Lady in LA Opera’s 2016 production of The Magic Flute. Future performances include the role of Musetta in La Boheme, which will take place this summer at Wolftrap.
