A native of Belgrade, Serbia, pianist Milena Gligic is currently working with the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artists at LA Opera. She graduated from the University of the Arts in Belgrade and is in the final stages of a doctoral degree program at the University of Maryland, studying with Rita Sloan. Milena is the recipient of numerous scholarships in her home country and a prize-winner in several international competitions. Since 2012 she has been a core member of the New York-based new music ensemble Contemporaneous, and was also a piano fellow at Bard College Conservatory of Music, the Aspen Music Festival and Music Academy of the West. Milena is also a professional singer with extensive choral experience, having performed extensively with the Collegium Musicum of Belgrade both as a piano soloist and vocalist. Currently she is a staff singer and a soloist with the choir of St. James’ Episcopal Church in Los Angeles. In her free time she enjoys folk-dancing, performing in the L.A. area with the Bulgarian folk ensemble Horotroptzi.
