Pianist Milena Gligic is a member of the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artists Program at the Los Angeles Opera. A native of Belgrade, Serbia, she graduated from the University of the Arts in Belgrade and has recently completed her doctoral degree program at the University of Maryland, studying with Rita Sloan. Milena is the recipient of numerous scholarships in her home country and a prize-winner in several international competitions. Since 2012 she has been a core member of the New York-based new music ensemble Contemporaneous, and was also a piano fellow at Bard College Conservatory of Music, the Aspen Music Festival and Music Academy of the West. Milena is also a professional singer with extensive choral experience, having performed extensively with the Collegium Musicum of Belgrade both as a piano soloist and vocalist. Currently she is a staff singer and a soloist with the choir of St. James’ Episcopal Church in Los Angeles. In her free time she enjoys folk-dancing, performing in the L.A. area with the Bulgarian folk ensemble Horotroptzi.
